About us
Our Story
We are Lenka and Honza, travelers who collect sand from the most beautiful places in the world.
In 2015, we founded the brand Couple Of Sand, under which we create original silver and stainless-steel jewelry. At the end of our year-long trip around the world in 2017, we decided not to return to our previous jobs. We wanted to fully focus on building our own brand and combine work with travel.
From Wanderers to Parents of Three
After twelve years of dating and traveling, we got married in September 2020. In spring 2021, our daughter Evelína was born. Our younger daughter Laura was born just 369 days after her sister, and in July 2024 we welcomed our third daughter, Nela. We had to slow down because our independent brand became a family brand. And now we're starting to travel again—basically from scratch, as our daughters now dictate the destinations.
The Idea
The idea for sand jewelry was born in 2015 on a beach under a coconut palm on the Panamanian island of Isla Coiba. We had already worked with a similar jewelry-making technique—embedding images into jewelry. Since we were just collecting sand from that island to take home for our shelf (more about that here), the idea came to us to make earrings with sand for our friends instead of cheap souvenirs. The girls loved them—and most importantly, they wore them.
When we set off on our year-long trip around the world the following year, we took jewelry to photograph a portfolio and tools to make them with us. We wanted to create a collection with sand from the beaches we visited and try selling it directly there. We liked the idea that you could buy a piece of jewelry with sand from the place you were currently visiting—where your memories were still fresh.
Since 2017—after returning from the journey that changed our lives—we've been building the Couple Of Sand brand. And since 2021, we've been trying to combine work and travel with family life. Follow our journey:

Lenka
Lenka was born in 1988 and studied theater science. Before working on her own brand, she worked as a dramaturge and production manager. Most of the money she's ever earned went toward travel. She loves food, and among the 50+ countries she’s visited, her favorites are Mexico, Malaysia, and Greece. Her current favorite sand is the pitch-black sand from Amed, Bali. This year, she and Honza are celebrating their 16th anniversary together, and they have three daughters.

Honza
Honza was born in 1986, under the Chinese zodiac sign of the Tiger. He speaks five languages, studied French, and worked in IT support. Since 2008, he has loved Lenka and traveled the world with her. If you say the code word "BAYERN MUNICH" at our booth, you’ll get a 10% discount. Go Bayern!
