We usually need 10 days, but we reserve up to 1 month.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much sand should I send?

We need one teaspoon of sand per jewelry piece, or an equivalent amount of shells. If you're ordering more pieces, the ideal amount is about 40ml (a shot glass). If you have sand from an interesting destination and would like to contribute it to our collection, we’d appreciate a larger quantity. But keep in mind that even 100ml is enough for many pieces of jewelry, and it’s important not to take more from nature than necessary.

  • In what condition should I send the sand?

Please send dry sand. The sand should also be free of debris (like twigs or leaves) that you wouldn't want in the jewelry.

  • Can you use shells in the jewelry?

Yes, you can also send pieces of shells, soft corals, or whole seashells. We crush the shells and corals for use in the jewelry.

  • What packaging should I use for sending sand?

Ideally, send sand in a zip-lock bag or a standard test tube. These containers are reliable, won’t spill, and are easy to label. Each package must include the order number. Please also write where the sand is from.

  • Is it true that collecting sand is prohibited in some places?

Yes, and you should always follow the rules of the location. We do, too. From experience, it also depends on the amount. Taking a teaspoon of sand is a different situation than taking a whole bottle. People often collect more sand than they can use, which is why some countries have regulations.

  • Why do I need to label the sand?

We receive more and more sand every year, and in the past, unlabeled sand caused issues during production. Sometimes we couldn’t identify which sand belonged to which order, especially if the envelope wasn’t labeled properly. It’s not possible for us to contact each customer to ask. Such sand cannot be added to our collection or used, which is a shame.

  • How long does production take?

All our jewelry is made to order and usually takes 5–10 days. However, several factors can extend this time. Our jewelry is handmade, and it's a precise process. Sometimes a piece doesn’t turn out perfectly and we need to remake it. Some pieces, like the Double Drop collection, take longer because each link is made individually. Although we reserve up to 30 days for production, most orders are ready within 10 days. If you're in a hurry, contact us — we'll try to find a solution.

  • Can I send my own photo with the sand?

Every piece of our jewelry comes with special packaging that includes a photo of the sand’s origin. We normally include our own photos, but we’re happy to use yours instead. Just send your photo to info@coupleofsand.com. Unpacking your jewelry will then be an even more personal experience.
